Who Is Using Free Wi-Fi?

No matter where you are, it’s hard to deny the simple fact that the Internet is everywhere. From the phones we constantly have on us, to the computers and television screen that fill our houses, we are never without an incomprehensibly vast source of information at our fingertips. When consumers have that capability and that comfort zone around them constantly, free Wi-Fi becomes one of the most important commodities you can offer to keep your business thriving.

The result of this trend is that Wi-Fi hotspots are becoming increasingly common as their casual use sees a massive increase — Australians’ use of such hotspots have increased by over 600% since 2009. The bottom line is clear — consumers appreciate their hotspots!

Naturally, anything that makes your end consumers happy is a step worth considering for your business. Ultimately, free Wi-Fi channels are almost certain to bring people in and keep them there, but who are these people who access the amenity? Many mobile Internet users are constantly aware of their data usage, and understand that it is best to limit its usage as best as possible. As a result, users of these hotspots are generally using them to complement the activities they’re undertaking at the moment, such as finding book reviews online before making a purchase. Others use public hotspots as either their main means of accessing the Internet (to reduce costs at home), or as their sole means of accessing the Internet. As a result, free use of these hotspots is quickly becoming one of the best ways to catch a customer’s eye. Most employed Australians use free Wi-Fi for a wide variety of professional and personal purposes, while one fifth of teenagers use it to save their data usage. Nearly everyone has some use for this feature, because nearly everyone is constantly connected to the Internet.

Setting yourself up with free Wi-Fi is one of the best things you can do to help your business stand out from the crowd in a very positive way. Customers are definitely drawn to the prospect of free Internet access, and this is a great way to get potential buyers into your stores. Contrary to what you might be tempted to think, setting up a public hotspot is not only a relatively simple process, but it’s also does not cost very much, and is likely to be an easy investment that’s very likely to pay off more quickly than you’d expect it to. As well, when your customers begin logging into your public networks, they are allowing you to access some of their personal information, which helps you to stay connected to your audience and positively improve your business model to adapt to your buyers.
